PHP 7.1.3 and Magento 2.2.3 results in "Function mcrypt_module_close() is deprecated"

Recommended Posts

I am running Magento 2.2.3 together with PHP 7.1.32. The M2E Pro extension (version 1.4.2) throws the Function mcrypt_module_close() is deprecated error when I want to fetch the account credentials (see https://prnt.sc/pgylui).

Clicking this link takes me to a page which looks like this: https://prnt.sc/pgymbe

I tried adding @ in front of any mycrypt calls, did not work. The strange thing is, it complains about line 112 in vendor/magento/framework/Encryption/Crypt.php but the line has the @ in front of the call, like this:

@mcrypt_module_close($this->_handle);

I also tried playing around with error reporting, but it does not change a thing. An idea how I might get  this to work?

Thanks!
